Empty Spaces

David Sorrell is a poet and writer who lives in San Mateo, California. He works for a large tech company and spends his free time exploring and photographing the broken edges of the northern California coast.
Alejandro Ramon Sainz Alfonso graduated from the School of Graphic Design, Havana, Cuba, in 1985, and from the San Alejandro Academy of Arts in 1991. Since then he has worked at the Experimental Graphic Workshop in Havana.
“It is an honor to present the work of these two artists. I have known David Sorrell for decades and have watched his careers in poetics, photography, and technical writing flourish. He is a writer of the wilds of California, both natural and human. This book is a special work as he navigates both joy and personal challenges. It is a pleasure to walk in his footsteps. Alejandro Sainz has been an artistic collaborator with Red Hydra Press for over a decade. From discovering him at the Taller Experimental de Grafíca in Havana, Cuba working on complex lithographs, linoleum cuts, and drawings, to collaborating on book projects, he is a consummate artist who brings a powerful vision to his work.” Steve K.Miller
